What a business broker does
A business broker helps an owner sell a company. The core of the job is the same everywhere: value the business, find buyers who can pay for it, keep the sale quiet, and get the deal signed. Where brokers differ is how far they go. Some list your business publicly and pass on whoever replies. Others, like us, search for buyers privately and then run and negotiate the whole sale, which is the work a sell-side M&A adviser does.
For a company valued in the tens of millions, the second model usually matters more, because the price is set by competition between serious buyers, and that competition has to be built.
Who we work with
- Deal size: sales of companies valued at S$10m to S$200m.
- Owners: founders and owners of founder-led small and medium enterprises.
- Where: Singapore and Southeast Asia, with buyers from around the world.
If you are not sure yet whether to sell, that is a normal place to start a conversation. Our free guide to selling a company in Singapore covers the steps, tax and legal points.
How we find buyers
We work from a credible buyer universe rather than a mass mailing: as at 18 October 2026 our register maps 2,488 potential acquirers, including 1,662 trade buyers and 413 private equity firms, headquartered in 32 countries. Mapped means on our register, not a relationship. Each buyer's capacity, fit and acquisition record are checked before anyone sees your name.
You can see how many acquirers cover your own sector, free, with Ayebot, the AI buyer search built by Aye Bot Pte. Ltd.
How the sale runs
- Preparation: readiness check, normalised earnings, positioning and the buyer profile.
- Quiet marketing: an anonymous teaser to screened buyers; your name and numbers only after an NDA and a capacity check.
- Offers: indicative offers, aiming for several credible bidders at the same time, then a letter of intent with one.
- Due diligence: the buyer checks the business; we manage the questions and protect the agreed price.
- Completion: the sale and purchase agreement is signed and ownership transfers.
The detail of each stage is on how we work.
How we charge
You pay a retainer up front. Any success fee is paid only when you close. If we cannot generate at least one qualified written IOI/LOI from a screened buyer within 12 weeks after launch, we refund the upfront retainer (conditions apply). For what brokers and advisers charge across the market, see M&A adviser and business broker fees in Singapore.
Track record
- S$200m+ in transactions closed since 2014. This is a career figure for co-founder Gwee Yi Chen, in Singapore dollars, including his years at Nihon M&A.
- S$750m in signed sell-side mandates, as at October 2026, in Singapore dollars, as an aggregate.
We name a client only with that client's consent.
Questions owners ask
What does a business broker do in Singapore?
A business broker helps an owner sell a company: valuing it, finding and screening buyers, keeping the sale confidential and getting the parties to a signed deal. Some brokers stop at introductions, often through a public listing; others run the whole sale and negotiate for the owner.
Is Growth Alliance Capital a business broker?
Yes, and a sell-side M&A adviser. We find the buyers for your company, then run the sale process and negotiate price and terms for you through due diligence to completion. In a sale we run, we act for the owner who is selling.
What size of company do you sell?
We work on sales of founder-led companies valued at S$10m to S$200m in Singapore and Southeast Asia. For a smaller or very simple business, a listing-based broker may be the better fit.
How much does a business broker charge in Singapore?
There is no official fee schedule. Our guide to M&A adviser fees in Singapore summarises what advisers and brokers publish. With us, you pay a retainer up front and any success fee only when you close, and the retainer is refunded if no qualified written IOI/LOI from a screened buyer arrives within 12 weeks after launch (conditions apply).
Will my staff or competitors find out I am selling?
The process is NDA-first: an anonymous teaser goes only to screened buyers, and no buyer sees your name or numbers before signing a non-disclosure agreement and passing a capacity check. The aim is that staff, customers and competitors do not know a sale is happening until the right time.
How do you find buyers?
From a mapped buyer universe rather than a public listing.
