Questions people ask
What does an M&A firm do?
An M&A firm advises on buying and selling companies. For a seller it prepares the business, finds and screens buyers, runs the process and negotiates; for a buyer it finds targets, values them, negotiates and manages due diligence. An adviser should act for one side of the deal; some intermediaries act for both, which should be disclosed in writing. We act for one side only.
Which M&A firm in Singapore is right for an SME?
Match the firm to the deal. Large firms and banks tend to focus on bigger transactions; brokers and listing sites suit small, simple businesses; boutique advisers like us focus on founder-led companies in the middle. Ask any firm about its deal size, who will do the work, how it finds buyers and how it charges. Our five questions to choose an M&A adviser help.
What is the difference between an M&A broker and an M&A advisor?
The terms overlap. A broker or M&A broker usually finds buyers and makes introductions, sometimes through a listing; an M&A advisor also runs the process and negotiates price and terms through completion. We do both.
How much do M&A firms charge in Singapore?
There is no official fee schedule. Our guide to M&A adviser fees in Singapore summarises what advisers and brokers publish. With us, on a sale, you pay a retainer up front and any success fee only when you close.
Is M&A only for big companies?
No. Private, founder-led companies are bought and sold too, and the tools are the same as in large deals, scaled to the company: preparation, a confidential approach to the right buyers, competing offers, due diligence and a sale agreement.
